    Mission Statement<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The mission of the MHPC Respiratory Care Practitioner Program is to educate and prepare Respiratory Care Practitioners to provide respiratory therapy services to the citizens of Missouri, especially those in rural and underserved communities. We educate and prepare RCPs, to have the knowledge, skills, attitudes, compassion, and professional behaviors that are necessary to work in both traditional and emerging areas of practice.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The RCP Program\u2019s vision is to be recognized as a leader in innovative strategies for Respiratory Care Therapy education. Through a combination of distance and on-site education opportunities and experiences, we envision a core of highly skilled, motivated and educated Respiratory Care Practitioners who will serve the citizens of Missouri.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The AAS in Respiratory Care is a one-plus-one hybrid degree program which prepares students to practice as Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and to become state licensed as a Respiratory Care Practitioner after successfully completing the Respiratory\u00a0Therapy Exam administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). To obtain the NBRC\u00a0Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>credential, graduates must pass the exam with the low-cut score. In order to obtain the NBRC\u00a0Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)\u00a0<\/em><\/strong>credential, graduates must\u00a0pass the exam at the high-cut score.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø (ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø) is one of five colleges in the Missouri Health Professions Consortium (MHPC) currently selected to offer through program and serves as the fiscal agent. ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø offers and enrolls students in the general education coursework; sophomore level (professional level) coursework is taught via a hybrid approach through internet-based technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Through the combination of general education coursework, professional-level coursework, classroom, laboratory practice and clinical experiences, students learn the profession of respiratory care. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

    The professional year does not run on a traditional ÌÇÐÄvlog¹ÙÍø academic cycle. Classes begin in the fall semester and will run until the next fall semester of the following year. Completion of professional coursework takes one full year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
