Students complete a variety of transferable courses to prepare them for higher-level study in the biological sciences arena.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assuming appropriate placement scores, Biology is a two-year degree, with flexibility to customize the program of study towards the student\u2019s chosen career.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A graduate with a Biology degree is prepared to enter an undergraduate major leading to further training in several fields, including graduate and professional schools in biology and careers in biomedical research, private industry, and education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If students are pursuing the Biology degree, we recommend they contact their selected transfer institution in planning their program of study. The program also emphasizes hands-on training opportunities, which enhance practical learning. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Additionally, students are encouraged to broaden their experiences through participation in various campus activities, including clubs, arts, music, and volunteer work. Moreover, there are strong articulation agreements in place, facilitating smoother transitions to further education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The coursework in this program aligns with existing articulation agreements with Missouri University of Science and Technology (Missouri S&amp;T) in Rolla, Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO), and Logan University. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The A.S. degree in Biology is comprised of coursework in science and general education, totaling a minimum of 64 credit hours. Students may choose from a variety of elective coursework appropriate for the specialized area of biology of expressed interest.
