{"id":267,"date":"2025-01-23T16:20:57","date_gmt":"2025-01-23T22:20:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/wellness-services\/?page_id=267"},"modified":"2026-06-12T12:45:37","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T17:45:37","slug":"student-grievance-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/wellness-services\/access-services\/student-grievance-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Student Grievance Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>If a student disagrees with the College\u2019s assessment of their need for ADA accommodations, the following procedures should be followed to appeal the decision:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. Informal Appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student requests a conference with the Access staff and\/or faculty\/staff involved in the accommodation request. When deemed appropriate by the Access staff, the division chair will also be included.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>If the faculty\/staff have been asked to provide the accommodations by the Access staff, the faculty\/staff will continue to provide the accommodations during the appeal process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the issue is not resolved following this conference, the student will request a conference with the appropriate administrator, as well as the parties listed above.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Within ten (10) working days, the appropriate administrator will convene a conference of the parties from above and may consult with the Chief Student Affairs Officer.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the issue is not resolved the student may initiate a formal grievance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. Formal Appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The student appeals by filing a Formal ADA Grievance Form with the Chief Student Affairs Officer within ten (10) working days of receipt of the informal grievance decision. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Chief Student Affairs Officer will appoint and convene an ADA Hearing Committee, which is a five-member committee composed of faculty and staff chaired by the Chief Student Affairs Officer, within ten (10) working days of receipt of the formal appeal. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The hearing will be audio recorded. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ADA Hearing Committee will review all documentation and meet with all parties involved.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Chief Student Affairs Officer will notify all concerned parties of the committee\u2019s decision in writing within ten (10) working days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center\"><a href=\"https:\/\/cm.maxient.com\/reportingform.php?EastCentralCollege&amp;layout_id=71\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"http:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/wellness-services\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/84\/2025\/01\/Access-Grievance-Form-Student.pdf\" class=\"ecc-button\">ADA Grievance Form<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>3. Final Appeal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final level of appeal requires the student to submit an appeal in writing to the College President within ten (10) working days of the committee\u2019s decision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The final appeal should include copies of the Informal and Formal Grievance proceedings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The president will render a decision, which is final.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-right\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastcentral.edu\/board-policies\/student-services\/student-ada-grievance-process\/\">Per Board Policy 3.29.1<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>If a student disagrees with the College\u2019s assessment of their need for ADA accommodations, the following procedures should be followed to appeal the decision: 1.
